These sectors are involved in the evaluation of the basic performances of different measurement techniques of neutrons, gamma and heat produced by nuclear materials; and development of instruments and software for data evaluation used in-field by nuclear plant operators and safeguards inspectors. These activities are performed in the Performance Laboratory (PERLA) for safeguards, which is also extensively used for the training of instrumentation specialists and safeguards inspectors.
